Open Fields of Grace
Words: Lisa Venkatrathnam
Music: Lisa Venkatrathnam and Paul Sumares

Last night I saw you running
In the open fields of grace
No longer were you broken or in pain
The wind blew kisses through your hair
You laughed with beauty unaware
I wish I could be there with you
In the open fields of grace
In the open fields of grace

Last night I heard you singing
In the open fields of grace
No longer were you silent or afraid
Your voice was innocent and strong
As you proclaimed love’s ancient song
Oh teach me how to sing along with you
In the open fields of grace
In the open fields of grace

When tears are but a memory
We’ll run to God like children finally free
In the open fields of grace
In the open fields of grace
Dancing in God’s delight
As night fades away

Last night I saw you running
In the open fields of grace
Someday I’ll be running there with you

About Me

I've always loved creative writing, and I've always loved music. But it wasn't until a few years ago that these two passions came together in the form of songwriting.

Music is powerful stuff, isn't it?  Faith, beauty, pain, truth - whatever the topic, I long to speak to the human experience in a way that connects with others in an authentic and meaningful way.

I've been blessed with great collaborators -
Keith Stacey Rowe, Paul Sumares, Yvonne Utz, Kristin Wilson, Brian Turnquist - who have helped give musical wings to my words. I also love to sit down at the piano and compose my own melodies and arrangements.  Ahhh....such medicine for the heart.

As I look back, I see how much I have grown because of this songwriting journey.  And for others to enjoy the results?  Simply additional grace along the way.

Indebted to the Master Composer, in whom the music of life is found,
